Nevada is trying to encourage medical marijuana users to shift from personal cultivation to use of dispensaries. Though patients who do not live within 25 miles of a dispensary may continue growing their own marijuana up to 12 plants.

Patients who do live within 25 miles of a dispensary are encouraged to sell or transfer their cultivated marijuana to a dispensary during a transition period.
