Solutions for Settings App Not Opening on Windows 11
If your Settings app won't open or crashes on Windows 11, follow these proven troubleshooting steps in order:

1. Restart Windows Explorer

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.

Find Windows Explorer under the Processes tab.

Right-click it and select Restart.

Try opening the Settings app again.

2. Repair or Reset the Settings App

In the Start menu, search for Settings.

Right-click the Settings app and choose App settings.

Scroll down and click Repair. This attempts to fix the app without affecting your data.

If Repair doesn't work, click Reset. This will delete app data but often resolves persistent issues.

3. Run System File Checker and DISM

Open Command Prompt as Administrator.

Run the following commands one at a time:

Wait for it to finish, then run:

5. Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

Outdated or faulty graphics drivers can cause the Settings app to crash.

Open Device Manager (Win + X -- Device Manager).

Expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics driver (e.g., Intel), and choose Uninstall device. Check "Delete the driver software for this device" if prompted.

Restart your PC, then download and install the latest driver from the manufacturer's website (do not rely solely on Windows Update).

6. Check for Windows Updates

If you can, run Win + R, type ms-settings:windowsupdate, and press Enter to open Windows Update directly.

If this doesn't work, try updating Windows using the Windows Update Assistant from the official Microsoft website.

7. Uninstall Problematic Updates via Recovery Mode

If the issue started after a recent update and you can't open Settings, you can uninstall updates using Recovery Mode:

Restart your PC and hold Shift while clicking Restart to enter Recovery.

Go to Troubleshoot -- Advanced Options -- Uninstall Updates.

Choose the update to remove and follow the prompts.

8. In-Place Upgrade (Last Resort)
