Mountain Virtual Run | Dragons Back, Brecon Beacons, Wales | Treadmill Running Scenery

We start our run from the ruins of Dinas Castle in Talgarth, Brecon, and head down to the bottom of the 'Dragon's Back', before immediately ascending to the highest point known as Waun Fach, which stands at 811 m above sea level. From here, we descend back to the small village of Pengenffordd, taking in the breathtaking views along the way.

Some of the climbs proved too hard to run up continuously, so I did take a few breaks along the way - these are less noticeable, but I did have to walk the final climb due to having 'jelly legs' by this point! I sped the footage up for that section to more or less match running speed.

The Dragon's Back is a popular hiking route in the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales. The ridge's name comes from its resemblance to a sleeping dragon. The hike begins in the village of Pengenffordd and includes the ascent of Waun Fach, the highest point in the Black Mountains. The summit of Waun Fach is flat and marked by small stones, but on a clear day offers panoramic views.

The Dragon's Back is also the name of a multi-day running race across Wales. The Welsh name for the race is Ras Cefn y Ddraig.
