South Shore Line The Last Interurban

Описание к видео South Shore Line The Last Interurban

The last of the electric railways to carry both passengers and freight, the South Shore Line (Chicago, South Shore & South Bend Railroad) operates between Chicago, IL, and South Bend, IN., although freight service is now diesel powered. In the past, as was common with midwest interurbans, South Shore trains rain on private right of way in open areas, and on the streets of cities and towns. The only city that still hosts CSS&SB trains on its streets is Michigan City, IN; and if plans are followed, trains will be routed onto private R.O.W. there, too. But until then, enjoy the ride!
