Jin Won presents a Tabla solo in Teentaal accompanied by Ted Morano on Sitar.

Jin Won
Praised by the NY Times as “an exuberant
dancer whose musicality transform[s] her
dancing into something primal.” Dancer
and percussionist Jin Won is a one-of-a-kind
artist in Indian performing arts who explores
the sonic and visual possibilities of rhythm
through dance and music.
An accomplished tabla player and Kathak
dancer of South Korean origin, she spent over
15 years in India training in Indian classical
percussion and dance under Pandit Divyang
Vakil and Shrimati Shubha Desai, respectively.
As artistic director of Pradhanica Dance
and Music Company, Jin has created,
choreographed, and starred in various
ensembles that have performed in esteemed
venues across North America and taught
master classes and workshops in many arts
institutes. She is a faculty at Taalim School of
Indian Music, NJ, teaching Tabla and Kathak
for over ten years.

Ted Morano
Ted Morano began learning Sitar in 1981 from Vasant Rai in New York City. He attended
CalArts 1983-1989, where he studied Sitar with Amiya Dasgupta, and Tabla and Pakhawaj
with Pt. Taranath Rao. He has also studied
Dhrupad with the Gundecha Brothers. In
addition to playing Sitar and Surbahar, he
has accompanied many artists on Tanpura.
He also provides lehara accompaniment
for Tabla and Pakhawaj players on Sitar,
Surbahar, Dilruba, and Harmonium.
