To understand the options on my 3rd Gen Camaro, I started with decoding my VIN number. But decoding the VIN is not enough to find your option content. VIN Decoding will provide some information about the engine, assembly plant and a few other things, but it really can't tell you much about the build content. Instead, on your Camaro, Firebird, Corvette, or any other General Motors car, you must decode the production option or Service Parts label. RPOs are regular production options. Your car should have a Service Parts label that lists all of your car's build content using these option codes. If you have that information, you can determine options through dealers parts catalogs and other sources.
I go through several resources that I use to help decode RPO, option content, and GM parts information when working on GM cars. In this video, I will explain how GM RPOs work and the resources that will help you to look up your codes and other specifications. I then show you how to reach them with "live" video screen capture. The GM Heritage Center is a great resource for specifications on many older cars.

My two favorite sources are currently the GM Heritage Center and GMpartswiki.com. They have information such as dealer brochures, order guides, specifications, and RPO lists. GMpartswiki has many dealer parts catalogs posted.
