Julius Randle - Savvy Scorer (POWER Guard) 17/18

Julius Randle just TRUCKS people. He’s got some ZBo in his game in that he’s a lefty that’s going to turn over that one shoulder (let’s pretend like we don’t know which), but you still can’t stop it. He’s so strong that he just seems to stampede defenders from a standstill, but if he gets a head of steam? Just stop. Step to the side. Save your body for the next play.

He’s a little wider and a little smaller than the last lefty point forward that the Lakers had in Lamar Odom, but after an offseason where he totally committed to changing his body, he might now fall into the category that Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose dubbed “power guard.” In his final season in LA, he averaged 16.1 points per game (a career best), 8.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, on 55.8% from the field while getting to the line 5.2 times per game in 26.7 minutes. He was the picture of durability, enduring the entire 82 game gauntlet without missing a single one. Julius seems to personify power, but he is actually patient at times. There are moments where he plays with poise and times he plays with pace. How far his career can progress will depend on his ability to incorporate both together.
