Punk’s not dead, says every new generation of punk bands—and they’re not wrong. The Canadian quartet PUP channels the spirit of the genre’s pioneers, mixing a snarl with a smirk on its excellent self-titled debut. Here, PUP roughhouses its way through the Buzzcocks’ classic “Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve),” a stone classic from one of punk’s most fertile years, 1978.
