In collaboration with the Hong Kong and Tees Branches, the Railway Group welcomes Simon French, the Chief Inspector of the RAIB to present this webinar on accident investigation – including the purpose and findings of the RAIB reports. RAIB investigate the most serious accidents and incidents, including the Sandilands multiple fatality tram accident and the fatal accident following the passenger train derailment near Carmont in Scotland.



RAIB Investigation reports provide a consistent and highly commendable structure which looks in detail at beyond the immediate a causes of accidents. The independent nature of these reports, which are written and presented in a clear and concise format will be of immense value to all and those with an interest in accident investigation in any industry. About the speaker:
Simon was appointed Chief Inspector in 2015 after many years in operational safety experience including the Channel Tunnel, Heathrow Express and the Great Belt Tunnel in Denmark, as well as with British Rail. As the Chief Inspector, Simon is responsible for ensuring RAIB fulfils its primary aim of improving safety on Britain’s railways reporting directly to the Secretary of State for Transport.
