This exhibit is two fold for me.
First, I wanted to share the beauty I see, every time I cut open and polish one of mother nature’s treasures. It is astounding to me the vast variance in colors and textures. Mother Nature’s artwork is truly amazing to me.
Secondly, I wanted to bring awareness to the tragedy of the missing and murdered from the indigenous peoples of the America’s.
The information and resources seems to stop at the tribal borders.
News networks do not report on the missing. The general population outside the tribal lands are unaware of the suffering and tragedies that are consistently happening.

About the artist:

I started making jewelry approximately 20 years ago.
I started as most do with simple, beaded necklaces and gradually learned better techniques and more advanced skills. For years I was a consistent vendor in Foley Alabama at the local Farmers Market.
Since moving here 2 years ago I have been able to attend an intarsia course offered at The William Holland Lapidary Institute in Georgia. I now bring these skills to the Lowe Mill in my ever evolving style and skills. I have found that I will never be able to stop learning and am looking forward to my next evolution.
