Infiniti’s full-size, body-on-frame QX80 receives some new features for 2022. There’s a high-definition 12.3-inch infotainment display including wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, navigation with lane guidance, and InTouch Services connectivity features. A wireless charger is also new, along with available 22-inch alloy wheels, and dark chrome accents.
Performance
All trims use a 5.6L V8 engine that makes 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, with a seven-speed automatic transmission. “All-Mode” 4WD is standard equipment. It includes an “Auto” setting for everyday driving on pavement, and 4High and 4Low for off-road.
Practicality
The two trim levels are both available in 7- or 8-passenger seating, at no extra charge. The second row folds manually and the third row power-folds, increasing cargo capacity from 470L to 2,693L. The QX80 can tow up to 8,500 lbs and includes a self-levelling rear suspension.
Value
The QX80 starts at $81,695 for Luxe trim, and $89,695 for ProActive. Moving up to the ProActive adds such premium items as hydraulic body motion control, larger wheels, and an advanced climate system. But some of its features, such as auto-levelling adaptive headlights, and blind-spot and lane-departure active intervention, are things we’d expect on both trims at this price.
