Greece Athena graduate Anthony Lamb scored 28 points to lead Vermont into the NCAA Tournament with a 66-49 win over University of Maryland-Baltimore County in the America East championship on Saturday. Lamb was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after going 8 of 16 from the field with nine rebounds. He sank two straight 3-pointers to ignite an 11-0 run that gave Vermont a 17-point lead in the second half.
Lamb, who was also a unanimous selection for conference player of the year, has been on a tear over the last week and averaged 26.7 points in the three America East tournament games. The 6-foot-6 junior forward scored 34 in a quarterfinal win over Maine and 18 in just 28 minutes in a rout over Binghamton in the tournament semis.
