When Concorde first took flight in 1969, it became a symbol of what modern aviation was capable of - traveling across oceans in a matter of hours!
However, the dream of supersonic transport turned out to be a deafening one for humanity... like… literally. Thunderous sonic booms made it impossible to fly these aircraft over densely populated areas, and so Concorde disappeared from the airspace after three decades.
Today, NASA and Lockheed Martin have promised to bring back supersonic flights, making them virtually silent.
