How to Find the Sum of Functions | Algebra, Adding Functions, Sums of Functions

Описание к видео How to Find the Sum of Functions | Algebra, Adding Functions, Sums of Functions

How do we find the sum of functions? What does the notation (f + g)(x) mean? We go over that and more in today's math lesson!

At the end of the video lesson, I present a practice exercise, which we go over now.

Let f(x) = 4x^2 - 3x + 7 and g(x) = -2x^2 + 3x + 2. Find (f + g)(x). To find (f + g)(x), all we have to do is add f(x) and g(x) together. Thus, (f + g)(x) = f(x) + g(x) = (4x^2 - 3x + 7) + (-2x^2 + 3x + 2). Then, simplifying this expression gives us 2x^2 + 9. Hence, (f + g)(x) = 2x^2 + 9. That is how we add functions!

I hope you find this video helpful, and be sure to ask any questions down in the comments!

The outro music is by a favorite musician of mine named Vallow, who, upon my request, kindly gave me permission to use his music in my outros. I usually put my own music in the outros, but I love Vallow's music, and wanted to share it with those of you watching. Please check out all of his wonderful work.
