How to make higher risk, higher return (“aggressive”) investments…

Описание к видео How to make higher risk, higher return (“aggressive”) investments…

In the course of our last few videos, we’ve looked at a number of key ideas to help you maximise the chance that you succeed with investment. These have included:

1.    Investing for the long run, ideally the very long run.
2.    Investing regularly each month and automating your investments.
3.    Ignoring the news and sticking to your guns.
4.    …and using an elegant approach to investment called “100 minus your age”.

As a reminder, “100 minus your age” helps you get your mix of “aggressive” vs “defensive” investments roughly right, based on your age. This approach is key to maximising your returns over a lifetime of investing, and also to minimising the risk of a catastrophic loss, which becomes particularly important the closer you get to retirement for reasons we’ve explained.

Once you understand the idea of “100 minus your age” – you are ready to allocate what you can afford to invest each month to “aggressive” versus “defensive” assets.  Today we begin to look at the specifics of what these might be.  And we begin with how you might approach the “aggressive” bit. Specifically, we look at two key options:

1. The S&P 500.
2. A large global index such as the MSCI World or FTSE All World instead.

Lots more detail in the video. We hope you find today's video interesting and useful.  Please do share it if you feel so inclined and don’t hesitate to add comments and / or shout with any questions.
