Hi Guys💜
A sweet warm welcome to our channel. Our Nritya Gurukul's senior students Daraksha Sinha, Anushka Pai, Ada Salwan, Avishka Shukla, Ishita Biswas & Ishaani Purohit performed a south indian folk dance at ‪@DeL‬‪@InternationalfolkfestivalIndia‬ Delhi...

This dance piece features two South Indian folk dances: Kolattam and Oyilattam.

Kolattam, also known as the "stick dance," is an ancient art form from the villages of South India, particularly mentioned in Kanchipuram as 'Cheivaikiyar Kolattam,' highlighting its long history. Traditionally, it was performed by women, but now both men and women can participate. Dancers hold two sticks in each hand and strike them together to create rhythmic sounds.

Oyilattam, often called the "dance of grace," is a folk dance from Tamil Nadu. It was originally performed by men standing in a row, holding two kerchiefs, and moving in sync with the music. In recent years, women have also started performing this dance.

Enjoy this fusion of two vibrant dance traditions, and don't forget to share, comment, and like!
