USRowing Training Center athlete Kristine O'Brien (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) recently rowed in the women's eight that took third at the 2019 World Rowing Championships, qualifying the boat for the 2020 Olympic Games. O'Brien got her start rowing at St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School and went on to row for the University of Virginia. Her accomplishments with Team USA extend to winning gold in the eight at the 2018 World Rowing Championships, earning bronze in the pair and eight at the 2018 World Rowing Cup III, placing fourth in the four at the 2017 World Rowing Championships, taking bronze eight at the 2017 World Rowing Cup II, earning silver in the four at the 2016 World Rowing Championships, winning gold in the four at the 2015 World Rowing Championships, winning gold in the eight at the 2012 and 2013 World Rowing Under 23 Championships, placing seventh in the quadruple sculls at the 2011 World Rowing Under 23 Championships and placing sixth in the pair at the 2009 World Rowing Junior Championships.
