The Holiday season can be a difficult time of year for people who suffer from mental disorders. But those who need treatment face a daunting hurdle: the shame associated with mental illness. Nearly one out of five Americans suffers from mental illness. But that hasn’t prevented the stigma associated with it from being a powerful and damaging force. In the first installment of our three-part series, KPBS Health Reporter Kenny Goldberg and video journalist Katie Schoolov take a look at this stigma and the problems it causes.
