Stihl 051 AV Vintage Chainsaw - A Beast of A Saw - 89cc's Of Old School Muscle!

Life throws you lots of curve balls. It's nice to sometimes find a heater right down the middle that you can hit out of the park. This deal was just that for me. I got a cool, old school muscle saw and two boxes of parts dropped in my lap when I wasn't even looking for it. It looks like there may be enough parts to build at least one additional saw. If you're into chainsaws, you just can't beat that!

The Stihl 051 AV is just pure, low end grunt. An old school fallers saw. It's big, heavy and loud, right up my alley. I don’t have a bar or chain for it and I’m already like a kid on Christmas morning. She sounds good and is in pretty good shape overall. The guy I got the saw from rebuilt it with a new piston and new rings.

This is the big bar setup with a 404 sprocket, so bar options are few. I did find a 25" Oregon bar, a 36" Holzfforma bar and a 25" Archer bar, all online. I'm still debating which direction I should go. I'm leaning toward the Oregon 25" for the time being. We'll see if I stick with that!
