The Five Stroke Roll consists two pairs of doubles, followed by an accented note.


1. GET THE STICKING DOWN FIRST.
At first, don't worry about the rhythmic aspect of the rudiment. Just get the mechanics or the feel of the sticking down first.

2. DETAIL.
After you have worked the sticking out, then add the rhythmic value and other details such as accents and such.

3. METRONOME.
Using a metronome will help you keep your place and sharpen up your details in your sticking.

Learning rudiments will help you in your over all feel and expression when applied to the drums.
