Special Educational Radio program in the period of COVID-19 Pandemic for interacting with the children and their parents. The name of the radio program is 'Shalebaherchi Shala'. This is a joint initiative of the Government of Maharashtra, Pratham Education Foundation, and AIR. This program is being broadcasted 3 days a week - Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. शाळेबाहेरची शाळा or 'A school, outside a school' is Pratham's remote learning initiative in partnership with the government of Maharashtra for all districts in the state. As per this initiative, parents tune in to the radio at 10:35 am every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. A task is shared through an SMS or a Whatsapp message a day earlier, on Monday and Wednesday, and Friday. It is revised during the broadcast. This broadcast involves a discussion of tasks for three groups: Early Years - Anganwadi and Grade 1-2, Preparatory - Grade 3-5, and Middle - Grade 6-8. In villages where people neither own a radio nor possess a smartphone, the broadcast happens through a loudspeaker, which is placed at a public place, for example, a temple or an Anganwadi center. This radio program has created a societal momentum for sustaining children's learning especially in the period of the COVID pandemic. This program is now being heard in 30+ districts of Maharashtra by nearly 5+ million children.
