GATE 2020 will be organized by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in online mode tentatively on February 1, 2, 8 and 9. GATE 2020 will be conducted in 24 papers including statistics which was introduced in 2019. The entrance exam is a computer-based one held in two sessions per day. Application form of GATE 2020 will be available tentatively from September 1, 2019 while admit card will be released tentatively in December. GATE 2020 scores will be valid for a period of three years from the date of the release of the result which is tentatively March midweek. The GATE 2020 scores will be used for admission purposes in the IITs through the Common Online Admission Portal (COAP) for IITs and CCMT for NITs. Candidates who score equal to or above the qualifying cutoff will be declared as eligible for admissions to M.Tech programmes. The qualifying cutoff for each GATE paper will be different and will be announced in the scorecard by IIT Delhi.

The application form of GATE 20120 will be available in online mode from September 1, 2019, tentatively to be filled through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The last date to submit completed applications without late fee will tentatively be September 30, 2019. Dates for payment with a late fee may be announced along with the GATE 2020 notification. The application filling process of GATE 2020 through GOAPS includes steps like registration, filling of essential information like contact, academic and personal details, uploading of photograph, and payment of application fee. When filling the GATE 2020 application form, only genuine and verifiable information should be used.

Registration: To start the application process, the candidate has to first get registered on the GOAPS portal using details like name, valid email id and mobile number. The candidate also has to choose a password for future log-in. Upon successful registration, an enrolment number was generated.
Filling the form: The application form has sections like – personal, academic and contact details, each of which had to be filled. Candidates have to enter the GATE paper they were appearing in and select two GATE exam centres from their zone and one from another zone.
Uploading of photograph: Scanned images of photograph, signature and category certificate (if admission is sought under a particular category) should be uploaded in the prescribed format.
Application fee payment: The application fee varies on the gender and category of the candidate. For example, the application fee for general male candidates is Rs. 1500, while female candidates need to pay only Rs. 750. The application fee could be paid in online mode only via net banking, credit or debit cards.
