The Story of Little Ballet Troupe is a soul-stirring documentary that chronicles the remarkable journey of India's oldest ballet troupe, brought to life by the visionary choreographer Shri Shanti Bardhan. With boundless imagination, Shanti Bardhan transformed classical Indian stories into mesmerising ballet productions, creating timeless masterpieces such as Ramayan.

After his untimely demise, the legacy of the troupe found its steadfast custodian in his wife, Gul Bardhan, who carried the torch of his vision with passion and resilience for 72 glorious years. Through intimate interviews, rare archival footage, and spellbinding performances, the film captures the essence of this extraordinary dance tradition that has stood as a beacon of India's cultural heritage.

Directed and edited by Sourav Dutta, and produced by Nootan Bhakal and Ketan Premani, this 78-minute participatory documentary is a heartfelt tribute to the artistry and dedication of the troupe. Featuring cinematography by Prateek Srivastava, with assistance from Madhab Poddar and Pratik Dhole, and enriched by the evocative music of Umesh Tarkaswar, the film is further elevated by Ravi Parasar’s expert colour grading.

The creative journey was supported by Abhilasha Kulkarni as Assistant Director, whose efforts have helped bring this timeless narrative to life.
