These Are The Best Rugby Coaching Balls - Gilbert Control-A-Ball

When coaching youngsters, you tend to focus on passing and catching drills, to ensure the young players learn the basics early on. The drills over time then switch to tackling, body positions and tactical awareness, with passing and receiving slipping way down the coaching list.

If you coach rugby you should take a look at the NEW Gilbert Control-A-Ball as these will change the way you coach players of all ages. All good coaches should have a set of these in their kit bag as they challenge players to improve and think about the skills involved.

They make training sessions fun and diverse. The amount of drills you can use them in is up to the ability of the coach to think outside of the box. When used as part of your pre-season coaching, players improve their basic skill levels and start the season in a better position than players who don't have access to the Gilbert Control-A-Balls

The are available in size 5 only and include a standard Match Rugby Ball, a Heavy Weight Rugby Ball, a Light Weight Rugby Ball, A Grip Less Rugby Ball and an Unstable Rugby Ball.

The balls all look the same in the air but all have a different feel or flight path, so challenges both the passer and catcher. A coach can change the ball used in any drill without telling the players which one has been added, raising the level of concentration as the ball comes to the next player. The Grip Less ball is the most challenging though as it is totally smooth so it is harder to pass and catch. Many players and coaches complain that towards the end of their season or in wet weather, rugby balls are losing their grip, making them more difficult to control. The Grip Less ball will develop your players skills and their ability to use the slippiest ball will be come easier.

The Unstable Rugby Ball is like no other ball on the market. With the pump included in the pack, you add 280g of water to the bladder when inflating the ball, this makes the flight path unpredictable and again increases the concentration of the players. We also found this ball added to the fun of the session especially when introduced the first time.

They retail for around £100 and also include a set of 6 drills to get you started but, the best coaches will be able to think of 100's of way they can be used within their own coaching sessions.
