Project originally began as a 200 level requirement for an Associates in Visual Communication at Ivy Tech. After a discussion with John Perez, Program Chair at Ivy Tech, it was considered to make a video that could be presented during the NASAD recertification process for the Fine Arts Program. However, the deadline could not be met in time for their visit, so the project was changed to simply present the Fine Arts program.

The process started with the collection of various assets that had already been created. John Perez was able to provide me with some logo animation and drone footage of the Indianapolis campus. We also set up a video session to create additional footage of the entrance to the building on campus where classes take place.

It became necessary to create a script for the video so I engaged the Chat GPT program to create not only a script but an outline as well for the video. It took a few times to get the description just right to cover all the necessary aspects, but it worked fairly well as a guideline.

From that script, I was able to create an AI voiceover from Artlist.io. From there I was able to select a voice to generate the narration. There were a few glitches along the way that necessitated that I “fool” the AI into saying things the correct way, but overall, I would say it was rather successful.

Footage was collected through a variety of sources. Some was from footage John Perez gave me. Some footage we shot with equipment belonging to Ivy Tech. I also utilized my own personal camera and Android phone to create some images. What was really of great help though was footage obtained from elements.envato.com. From there I could find footage created from descriptions I would enter into their AI. Footage could also be obtained from Artlist, however I did not use any of that.

The final project was assembled in Adobe Premiere Pro. From there I was able to not only edit footage, but add voiceover and music as well. I was then able to export a final video which I have uploaded to my YouTube Channel at

This entire experience has demonstrated the advantages and drawbacks of utilizing AI in video production. Google, as a research tool and YouTube as a teaching tool, has made it possible to quickly create ideas that would have taken a great deal of time in the past. I can fully appreciate why during the SAG-AFTRA strike it was so important that AI was addressed.
