The completion of Patna’s first double decker flyover on the congested Ashok Rajpath is likely to get delayed by one year due to ongoing work of the Patna metro rail project near PMCH. The ongoing construction work on the 2.2-km long flyover will be completed by January 14, 2025. Earlier, its deadline was set for 2024. The officials of Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL) said construction work has sped up on 800-metre area from Khazanchi Road to Science College but due to metro project work near PMCH its progress has slowed down.

Under the flyover project, two tiers will be constructed by utilising the funds to the tune of Rs 422 crore. The Tier I will start from Patna College and ends at BN College, which will be 1.50-km. The Tier II, which will be constructed above the first deck, will start from Kargil Chowk and it will go up to Science College. The upper tier will be 2.2-km long, while the traffic lanes of both flyovers will be 7.5-m wide.
