How to replace Tailgate Glass Switch BMW E46 / E91 / E61 Touring

BMW E46 / E91 / E61 Touring Tailgate glass switch replacement - A guide on how to remove the tailgate switch of your BMW E91/E61 estate / touring. Also shows how to open tailgate glass if the switch is not working. Shows how to remove the rear wiper spindle / axel / pivot too.

Tools Needed -
Plastic Trim remover
Small Pick
Small Allen key (3mm)
10mm socket
13mm Socket
24mm Socket

Part number for Tailgate switch - 9200673

Step 1 - Remove rear wiper arm using 13mm socket
Step 2 - Remove 24mm nut from wiper arm spindle
Step 3 - Remove trim from inside tail gate, remove foam insulation, place 3mm Allen key into tailgate lock mechanism hole and push towards the front of the car to open tailgate glass
Step 4 - Remove plastic covers and 10mm nuts to remove plastic trim
Step 5 - Remove 10mm nut to remove wiper arm spindle/tailgate glass lock
Step 6 - Unplug tailgate switch and remove through hole
Installation is the reverse.
