Setting Nuffield/Leyland Halfshaft Bearings

Описание к видео Setting Nuffield/Leyland Halfshaft Bearings

A video to explore the possibilities for the setting of the halfshaft bearings using the nut on the inner end.
I do not intend to instruct owners to follow my suggestions, but just demonstrating the options.
It seems to achieve the figures state in the manual that the nut would need to be excessively tight, putting unnecessary loads on the bearings, whether the bearings have end float or preload is not a safety issue but just about the reliability of the oil seal.
I have spoken to several other mechanics and the consensus was to just remove the end float.
My own plans for future seal replacements will be to tighten the nut to take up end float and then tighten until the next hole lines up as I have done in this video, but it is up to every owner to decide what is best for their tractor.
NOTE, during this video the seal carrier is left unbolted so it is free to rotate with the halfshaft and doesn't affect the readings of the spring balance!
