Enkhuizen is a city (and municipality) in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The municipality is located on both the Markermeer and the IJsselmeer. It has one of the largest marinas in the Netherlands.

Enkhuizen, like Hoorn and Amsterdam, was one of the harbor-towns of the VOC, from where overseas trade with the East Indies was conducted. It received city rights in 1355. In the mid-17th century, Enkhuizen was at the peak of its power and was one of the most important harbor cities in the Netherlands. However, due to a variety of reasons, notably the silting up of the harbors, Enkhuizen lost its position to Amsterdam.

Station Enkhuizen is a terminus railway station that opened on 6 June 1885. It is located at the end of the ZaandamEnkhuizen railway.

'De Waag' is a weighhouse, or weighing house, a public building at or within which goods are weighed. It was build in 1559. Location: Kaasmarkt 8. Most of these buildings were built before 1800, prior to the establishment of international standards for weights. As public control of the weight of goods was very important, they were run by local authorities who would also use them for the levying of taxes on goods transported through or sold within the city. Therefore, weigh houses would often be near a market square or town centre.

The 'Drommedaris' is the southern gateway of the city. It is the best known building in Enkhuizen. The building was erected as a defense work at the entrance to the Old Harbor. The artillery cellar and the room on the ground floor in the building date from 1540 and were the original building. From 1649 to 1657 the building was raised by two floors and the rondel was given a pointed roof with an open domed tower. Today it houses a 44-bell carillon.
In front of the 'Drommedaris' is a white drawbridge (national monument) that was narrowed around 1900.
