Teddy Nelson, pseudonym for Terje Nielsen (born August 23, 1939 in Bergen, died June 8, 1992) was a Norwegian country artist and singer. Terje Nilsen wrote among other things the popular songs "Baby I'm Ready" and "Divorce Trip in Hardanger". He had a career abroad, including in the United States. He was a trained bricklayer.

Nelson was one of the first to bring humor into the Norwegian country. He also marked himself in the US with his lightly nasal country vocal. Terje Nielsen had his first appearance in 1955 with the group "Gille Sving" and debuted on the album in 1964 with the single "Norway Jon". Until 1970 he published twelve singles. His breakthrough came when he launched the album Diggy Liggy in 1976.

He also gained success internationally and was the first Norwegian to perform on the stage Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Nelson was also named "International Star of the Year" in 1981 and 1982. In 1989, he was awarded the European Country Country Roundup Award in London.

In the 1980s Teddy Nelson collaborated with artists such as Skeeter Davis and Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa and got a hit with the song "Divorce Trip in Hardanger".

In the spring of 1991, Terje Nielsen was affected by cancer. He was touring Denmark when he died on June 8, 1992. Teddy Nelson's son Rudi Nielsen continues his legacy with his own band.
