I explain why I believe the results of the 2019 European Union parliament elections are a disaster for Nigel Farage's Brexit Party. I outline how all they have done is mop up the 2014 UKIP vote plus some Tory votes but have not moved forward, despite being at peak performance due to the huge press coverage in the lead up to the elections.

I also explain that the Brexit party is simply a re-branding of UKIP, and the popular vote share of no-deal supporting parties, Brexit Party + UKIP has only gained 1/3 of the popular vote compared to the 40% of the popular vote gained by the Lib Dems + Greens + Change UK + SNP + PC. This proves there is absolutely no mandate in the country for a no-deal Brexit.

I predict due to this result the Conservative party are almost guaranteed to elect a hard Brexiter as their leader, and this will drive support away from the Torys in parliament and outside, and result in the ruling party eventually being forced to call a confirmatory referendum.
