M3 vs Miata | Driver Battles

It's M3 vs Miata when Bailey Woods and his E36 M3 square off against Frankie Ho and his NC Miata for a duel around Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. These two cars may not be historical rivals, but put two fast cars and drivers on the track together, and the time attack racing competition is bound to get intense.

If you’re going to have fast times, you need cars that are capable of it, and the ones in this episode have been modified in all the right ways.

Starting with Bailey’s 1999 E36 M3, it has been given a simple but effective set of mods that includes an Afe intake, JBR twin race clutch and flywheel, Eibach sway bars, AP Racing big brake kit, Titan7 T-S5 wheels and Nitto NT01 tires. This is all also on top of gutting the car to get it down to nearly the same weight as Frankie’s Miata.

Speaking of the 2013 NC Miata, it also has seen a host of important upgrades. It has been given a 2.5L Duratec swap from a Ford Fusion, PPE exhaust, Moto East intake, EcuTek reflash, Eibach two-way coilovers, Racebred aero components, Volks CE28N wheels and Nitto NT01 tires.

Since the power, weight and tires all on similar footing, this one will come down to the drivers. With both Frankie and Bailey given a whole day on the track and the NT01’s not falling off as they tick off laps, there is always that last bit of speed to find before the final flag waves.
