The Vagaries are an emerging band from Dublin currently garnering acclaim. Their sound is indebted to the likes of The Clash, Madness and Squeeze Fused with the energy and momentum of grunge and the caustic lyrical observations of their brit pop forefathers. The band are a cross pollination of sounds that focus on hooks rather than filler which is fitting for the I pod ADHD generation now nearing their late twenties. The band include Johnny Dillon on lead guitar and vocals, Dave Hayes on rhythm, John Mcgran on Bass guitar and Drummer Connor Ray.
The band have garnered acclaim in their native Dublin, indeed design mogul Steve Averill who once suggested that up and coming Dublin band The Hype should change their name to U2 to improve their appeal has christened the Dublin outfit with their memorable moniker. The Vagaries have become mainstays on the Dublin music scene, and the band could be one’s to watch for 2017 with Gigs across Europe lined up first in Paris but then hitting Amsterdam, Berlin, London and Reykjavik before recording tracks for their planned debut “Home for Last orders” with Producer Owen Morris of Oasis and Ash fame. But for now the bands live show, recorded tracks and appeal is enticing in a musical landscape continually blighted by MOR sounds. The Vagaries are due to Play Dublin’s finest indie venue Whelan’s on November 10th.
