Описание к видео Can We Stop Shopping? A Conversation with J.B. MacKinnon on 'The Day the World Stops Shopping'

Have you asked yourself why we can't seem to stop shopping? Despite the fact that we are facing an ecological crisis due to our overconsumption of the planet's resources, we are told that we have to keep shopping lest our economies suffer, our well-being declines and we return to the Stone Ages. But how true is this and can we move away to a greener and more healthier way of living? In order to confront such questions, we are grateful to have award winning author J.B. Mackinnon who has written the provocative and deeply researched book "The Day the World Stops Shopping". Through covering questions such as why do we consume incessantly and how can we transit to a less consumerist society on an individual and societal level, we highlighted themes of focusing on intrinsic values, questioning consumeristic values, living a one-planet lifestyle, the perks of voluntary simplicity and the moral importance of caring for animal life.
