Dr. Marian Gidea is advancing understanding of dynamical systems for sustainable energy and space science.

"We've been collaborating with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration for several years," explained Dr. Gidea, professor of mathematics and director of the hashtag#KatzSchool's graduate programs in mathematical sciences. "We are contributing on the theoretical side to give mathematical models for the motion of these asteroids."

In the Complex Systems Lab, Dr. Gidea's research team is enhancing the foundational understanding of dynamical systems through the development of theories, models, and techniques with applications to areas like celestial mechanics and astrodynamics, topological data analysis, financial bubbles detection, and credit risk.

"One of my former Ph.D. students interned at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory at Caltech. We had another undergraduate student who interned at The Kennedy Space Center. One of my main sources of energy is to have students excited about the work that we are doing and have them succeed in their careers." — Dr. Gidea
