STORYLINE:
Tension is till rife in the border areas and towns where southern Lebanon and Northern Israel meet on the first anniversary of the 34 day conflict with large swaths of Lebanon still in ruins and as rival factions struggle for control over the embattled country.
In the south, UN peacekeepers are still reeling from the loss of six soldiers in a June car bombing. Sunni Muslim radical groups suspected in the attack are now also accused of firing two rockets at Israel, an incident that has raised fears of a flare-up on the volatile border.
However, Hezbollah denied involvement and Israel quickly asserted its belief that a small Palestinian splinter group was responsible - both sides seemingly loathe for the next round of hostilities to recommence.
Maarake' is a small village near Tyre, a city devastated by ferocious Israeli shelling during the war, where the Italians have built a huge base for their troops as part of the UNIFIL peacekeepers in South Lebanon.
Francesco Mataresse, a captain from the Italian Battalion 1 regiment expressed his fears in the wake of last month's attack on the Spanish troops in South Lebanon.
Hezbollah, itself, has seen its stock and profile rise in the last year, as well substantial internal opposition to it.
