Exactly one year ago to the day I traveled to the northern parts of Norway to a small island called Skjervøy. The main purpose of the trip was to free dive with orcas and humpback whales - we did! Some nights however, the sky was clear enough so see some northern lights! I captured it several times during our stay, both with my GoPro 8 and Canon EOS 80D. In this short video you can compare the quality of the time lapses: image, smoothness and more.

In my opinion the GoPro 8 is more user friendly, but the images look a lot better with the Canon 80D. In my opinion the the GoPro 8 is more smooth. However, system cameras will always give you better quality.
