This xenon detector (XAMS, the dual-phase liquid Xenon detector in AMSterdam) is more than 1000 times smaller than its big brother, the XENONnT detector. XENONnT is an underground measurement setup in Gran Sasso (Italy) in which researchers want to unravel the mystery surrounding dark matter.

XAMS is important for developing new techniques for future xenon detectors.

One year was needed to upgrade subsystems and build this detector. The assembly must be very clean to avoid contamination of the xenon ( (liquid & gas). The detector is suspended by 3 torlon threaded rods in the inner vessel. It is important that the detector is leveled to assure leveled overflow of liquid xenon in the bucket. After mechanical fixation, the electrical wiring will be connected. Before the vessel closes, all connections are carefully checked.
