An autumnal trip to traverse the highest peaks of the Kaweka range on the North Island of New Zealand in May 2021. This 3 day trip enjoyed visiting several of the peachy huts of the Forest Park and summiting the 2x 1700m peaks of the range. The cloudy and windy traverse was counterpart to the beautiful forests and flats we travelled across. We didn't see anybody else for the entire trip. This highly enjoyable short circuit is recommended. A bonus visit to Mangatutu Hot Springs is only a short detour from Makahu Saddle and provides a great way to sooth the aches before travelling home.
