Death by Ragging: आख़िर क्यों कमजोर है भारत में ये कानून? | Himachal Horror Shocks India | Shubham Sisodiya Current Affairs

A 19-year-old female student of Government Degree College, Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh) died on December 26, 2025 in Ludhiana hospital after allegedly facing severe ragging and sexual harassment by three senior female students and a college assistant professor.

The case emerged after a video recorded by the victim went viral, in which she recounted harassment and intimidation by her professor, including inappropriate touching and threats to silence her.

Police have registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Himachal Pradesh anti-ragging laws, naming the professor (suspended by the government) and the three students. The Government of Himachal Pradesh, UGC and NCW have taken suo motu notice and called for a thorough investigation.

One of the accused students has denied the accusations in a social media video, claiming none of the events occurred and defending the professor, who has also denied wrongdoing as the probe continues.

The tragic incident has triggered public outrage, calls for safer campus environments, and a fair, time-bound investigation into ragging, harassment, physical assault and institutional response.
