Flying Shoebox ✈️ Short Skyvan Take-Off & Landing

Описание к видео Flying Shoebox ✈️ Short Skyvan Take-Off & Landing

The Short SC.7 Skyvan is seen taking-off and landing at Grenchen in Switzerland. The aircraft is nicknamed the “Flying Shoebox” for its square fuselage.

The world's first Skyvan with a 7-blade propeller! This propeller promises several advantages such as best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration-free propeller operation, approx. 5% shorter take-off distance, approx. 10% improved climb performance, unlimited blade life, faster engine start and significant noise reduction indoors and outdoors. The Skyvan was manufactured by Short Brothers in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is nicknamed Flying Shoebox or Irish Concorde. LOL!

A total of 149 units of the aircraft were produced until 1986 by Short Brothers of Belfast, Northern Ireland. The few remaining Skyvan mainly used for short-haul cargo and skydiving.

The Skyvan OE-FDV was in non-stop use at the Free Fly Festival Weekend in Grenchen, Switzerland. The aircraft brings up to 24 parachute jumpers to an altitude of 4'300 metres, allowing jumps of up to 50 seconds in free fall.
