Overweight and Obesity are Defined as Abnormal

Описание к видео Overweight and Obesity are Defined as Abnormal

Overweight and obesity are defined as abnormal that may impair your health. About 3 billion adults, 18 years and older, were overweight, of these over 1 billion were obese. The fundamental cause of obesity and overweight is an energy imbalance between calories consumed and calories expended.

Do you know what BMI is. Obesity use a measurement called BMI (body mass index) which is the individual's weight multiplied by 703, divided by twice the height in inches. BMI of 25.9-29 is considered overweight; BMI over 30 is considered obese.

The mechanism for excessive weight gain is clear—more calories are consumed than the body burns, and the excess calories are stored as fat -adipose tissue. However, the exact cause is not as clear and likely arises from a complex combination of factors. Genetic factors significantly influence how the body regulates the appetite and the rate at which it turns food into energy.

Overweight and obesity, as well as their related noncommunicable diseases, are largely preventable. Supportive environments and communities are fundamental in shaping people’s choices, by making the choice of healthier foods and regular physical activity the easiest choice (the choice that is the most accessible, available, and affordable), and therefore preventing overweight and obesity.

Obesity affects every aspect of a people's lives, from health to relationships.
