The Mixolydian Pentatonic Scale Family

Possibly the original 'altered pentatonic', the Mixolydian pentatonic scale first appeared in the consciousness of guitar players in the '80s. The main proponents of this dominant-sounding scale are Eric Johnson, Paul Gilbert, Bruce Bouillet to name a few. To maximize their potential, altered pentatonic scales should be rearranged into 2 notes per string so that conventional alternate picking can be used.
