Should You Lunge Your Gaited Horse ? Gaited Horse Training

Lunging does so many things for you and your horse. But so many times people will say don't lunge your gaited horse. Many times this is because they don't understand the benefits and if done right, it will make your horse better. You will build communication, you can strengthen them, work on their gait and canter. And it will help you to know how they naturally move and to help the vet if you can lunge and control your horse. With the bigger strided gaited horses like the Walking Horse, I use a longer rope and make a bigger circle or I will walk more to increase the size of the circle. Its up to you, but I lunge all of my horses.
