We cover the COUNTIF Function in Excel which can be used to count cells that meet a condition in a range. Firstly, we cover the use of text criteria to count the number of employees representing given nationalities within a firm. We then explain logical operators (greater than, less than etc) and how these can be used to count the number of items that had a revenue greater than 50. Finally, we cover wildcard criteria which are particularly useful when dealing with customer reviews. We use the wildcard criteria to calculate the number of positive, negative and extreme responses by counting cells if they meet a certain text length or contain certain words.
