Two deputies have been hospitalized after being shot in Walton on Thursday.

According to Major Philip Ridgell with the Boone County Sheriff's Office, the shooting took place on Service Road.

The suspect barricaded themselves inside the residence, and a SWAT team was called to the scene.

Local 12 reporter Tyler Madden captured video of a large police presence at the Kroger in Walton.

An armored SWAT vehicle was also captured as it arrived.

Major Ridgell later confirmed that the suspect died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and confirmed that the scene is clear. He added that there were no further injuries.

Both of the deputies who were shot are said to be in stable condition, with one being taken into surgery. One of the deputies was airlifted to UC Medical Center, while the other was taken by ambulance.

Authorities were at the residence serving a child support warrant.
