Imphal Submerged: Aerials Show Devastating Manipur Floods | Thousands Affected, JNIMS Flooded!

Imphal, Manipur, is grappling with severe flooding as relentless rainfall on June 1st and 2nd, 2025, has caused major rivers to overflow, submerging large parts of the capital city. Aerial visuals show extensive waterlogging affecting households and disrupting daily life.


Over 19,000 people have been impacted, and more than 3,300 houses damaged across the state. The Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal East has been flooded, forcing patient evacuations. Key areas like Wangkhei, Heingang, Lamlong, Khurai, and Checkon are among the worst-hit.



The Indian Army and Assam Rifles have launched "Operation Jalrahat-2," rescuing over 500 civilians and undertaking emergency repairs on breached river walls. Relief efforts are ongoing with NDRF, SDRF, and local volunteers. Authorities have extended school holidays and urged for the flood to be declared a "state calamity."



Heavy rainfall is predicted for the Northeast region, including Manipur, for the next seven days, indicating a prolonged challenging situation.
