https://getconnectedmedia.com - Apple's latest macOS operating system update is here. The latest Big Sur update is a big deal for several reasons. Most notably, this update has a huge interface overhaul that starts to blur the lines between the desktop and the mobile experience. And with this in mind, Apple's new M1 chip is also part of why this cross-pollination is happening.

Apple Silicon was a road that started with the original iPad. With the iPhone and iPad eventually using similar processors, the next step was to move their desktop experience. The familiarity with the iPhone interface, where most people discover the Apple way, trained users to accept the iPad and now the Mac desktop experience. This makes the bridge for PC users coming from a Windows background but has always used an Apple iPhone much easier to cross.

But what about Intel-based Macs? Those will be supported for some time still. But in typical Apple fashion, the end might be closer than we think, and likely, very abrupt. Just like the removal of the headphone jack, the CD drive, you get the picture.
