8. Lake Hillier, Australia
Despite it being fairly well-known this bright pink lake has to be the strangest lake in the world hands down, even if there’s isn’t aliens hiding out here. Located in Western Australia, it’s also known as Lake Hillier, and every day of the year, it’s a solid bubblegum pink color. The lake is about 1900 feet wide and completely surrounded by eucalyptus trees and a small sand dune. No one understands completely how it manages to stay pink but some scientists believe that its a unique dye created from bacteria that feed off salt. In case you were wondering, it is safe to swim here. The guy that first took a dip must have been pretty brave! The best way to view this lake is from the sky.

7. Beppu Hells, Japan
These bodies of water in Japan is designated as a Place of scenic beauty but many would argue that it looks more like the pits of hell! Not only can this hot spring in Japan turn completely red, it also reaches boiling temperatures and swimmers aren’t recommended to jump in. Many wouldn’t exactly call these hot springs which are really more like steaming puddles. The heat gets pretty intense from geothermic activity, and the Beppu hells are the 2nd largest source of this right after yellowstone.

6. Crooked Trees, Poland
You certainly might find this place to be strange and bizzare after you take a look at the shape of the tree trunks. The curves form at about a 90 degree angle and no one has been able to explain it with a clear answer. There’s really no good reason why someone would want the trees to become bended and there’s no real specific method on how to do this in the first place. Some believe that they might have been plowed by German tanks and then continued to grow. Other claim supernatural activity is to blame. Let us know in the comment section how you think these trees became curved and maybe we’ll feature in an upcoming video.

5. Spotted Lake Canada
This fascinating lake is found in British Columbia, Canada and is mysteriously spotted almost like a dalmation. This is from a complex mix of minerals deposited here such as calcium, magnesium sulfate, and sodium sulphates. Strangely enough, it also contains small amounts of titanium and silver. This was originally known to the native people and they referred to it as the Kliluk. They felt as though it was a sacred site. They felt as though the waters were therapeutic and had healing qualities to it. I was used by the allies to gather minerals that would be used in producing ammunition.

4. Boiling River
A strange boiling river located in the Peruvian Amazon is so hot that it actually boils and it’s been puzzling scientists on how it could do this. The Amazon is located much too far from a volcano in order to produce enough geothermic, energy to boil even a small river. This was found by Andres Ruzo after he heard tales from his grandfather and other Peruvians about it boiling victims alive who fell into it. Apparently it’s caused from a fault, and as water moves falls into this crack in the earth, and is heated up from the primal heat of the earth! Just try your best not to fall in if you visit this or your jungle exploring days might be over!

3. Gruner See
The lake seems green and it’s completely surrounded by dense forestation. What’s strange about the lake is that it only forms after the snow melts and when it evaporates, people notice there’s a bench and a park there. The water is extremely pure and people can only enjoy scuba diving here once each year. Would you be willing to take a swim here at this scientifically impossible place?

2. Two Colored Tree
This isn’t two photos cropped together, this is a photo taken from forest in Hungary. This seems like a strange thing to find in nature but it’s actually the result of a toxic chemical spill that took place here. The chemical spill reached about halfway up the trees. Red iron Oxide sludge came oozing into the forest and will leave its mark on nature.
