Game-day scenes from the INTERLEAGUE match between Southern Football Netball League and Riddell District Football Netball League played on Saturday 11 May 2024 at RSEA Park Moorabbin Victoria Australia.

The Southern Football Netball League govern the senior Men's & Women's Football and Senior Women's Netball competition in Melbourne's south east.

The Riddell District Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league in Victoria, Australia. The RDFNL covers towns in the Macedon Ranges and an area from Melton and Rockbank in the south to Kyneton and Lancefield in the north.

PREVIEW
The SFNL & the RDFNL are no strangers to when it comes to playing interleague football as the last time these two leagues met in 2019 saw a thriller be played out at Riddell.
Originally showing the score as a one point win to the SFNL confusion ensued as the goal umpires met in the middle to confer their scorecards to which an error was found the scores were in fact tied.
It meant five minutes each way of extra time was needed & on that occasion it left Southern going down by 3 points.
In 2024 it’s time for revenge. The senior men are very lucky to have the services of former premiership winning coach of Cheltenham in Des Ryan at their disposal to lead them to victory while Kris Thompson (Springvale Districts) & Zach Horsley (Dingley) will also be leading the charge as assistant coaches.
While an array of players from Divisions 1 and 2 will be ready and waiting for the battle to commence. Expect midfield bulls like Jackson Peet (Dingley) who’s making his back into the interleague fold his expertise and leadership will be on show for everyone to see along side his teammate Kristen Feehan who is also making another interleague appearance, Cranbourne’s Zak Roscoe will bring his pace around the ball as well as his love for a cheeky goal or two. While Murrumbeena pair Dareo Rogers and Sam Michael will look to bring flair and silky ball movement to the side.

MATCH REPORT
Former AFL Saint and Swan Trent Dennis-Lane was best afield as the Southern league pinched a miraculous comeback victory over the Riddell District league in an interleague thriller at RSEA Park, Moorabbin on 11 May 2024.
The SFNL stormed back from 33 points down at the final change to snare an overtime nail-biter, 14.15 (99) to 15.8 (98).
It was almost a carbon copy result of the 2019 clash between the leagues, which was also decided in extra-time.
Dennis-Lane put the Southern league level with 30 seconds to go.
Dareo Rogers had a chance on the paint of 50m but played on as the siren sounded. Dennis-Lane again kicked his side ahead with a clever snap.
The siren eventually sounded as Riddell was mounting its final comeback.
Dennis-Lane finished with five goals, while Lucas Walmsley was sensational. Cheltenham and Dingley stars Jacob Edwards and Caleb Lewis sustained injuries.
For the RDFNL, Rueben Rode and Tommy Alkemade were outstanding before the final quarter.
The nail-biter was a clean sweep for the Southern league, which won the under-19s, women’s matches and netball.
